Where food, culture and evidence meet optimal wellness equity.

Dawn Hilton-Williams founded Herban Eats in Charlotte, NC in 2007, originally as Breakfast in Bed Catering.
What began with a love of cooking, feeding people and creating memorable experiences eventually opened into a much larger conversation about what sits beneath the plate: culture, access, public policy, chronic disease, lived experience and the unequal conditions that shape who gets credible information, nourishing food and a fair opportunity to pursue optimal wellness.
That evolution gave rise to The Vegucator™, Dawn’s public-facing work as an activist, columnist, award-winning writer and author, speaker, culinarian and certified whole food, plant-based nutrition professional.
At the center of it all is a simple truth: food is never just food. It carries history and culture. It reflects policy and economics. It shapes health across generations and can either deepen or disrupt many of the lifestyle-driven chronic illnesses impacting families and communities.
Through The Vegucator, Dawn brings food, culture, evidence and advocacy together through columns and books, speaking and presentations, whole food, plant-based cooking demonstrations and tastings, consultation and a growing collection of foods, apparel and educational products.
The Flava My Plate™ series grew from that same work. The original Flava My Plate brought flavor, culture and health together in the way Dawn cooks and teaches. Flava My Plate: Kids Edition extended the conversation to children and families. Flava My Plate: Rocky Edition introduced Rocky, Dawn’s rescued pittie whose journey from severe undernourishment to a thriving plant-powered life inspired a color, cook and care guide for plant-powered pups and later Rocky Chow™.That story has now grown into Rockyverse, a lifestyle and product collection rooted in rescue, compassion and the idea that healthier choices for people, animals and the planet can live in the same conversation.
Together, Herban Eats, The Vegucator and Rockyverse reflect Dawn Hilton-Williams’ larger commitment: making whole food, plant-based nutrition and lifestyle education more culturally relevant, more practical and more meaningful while moving optimal wellness equity from conversation into practice.
