Dawn's Story
Food has always been my language of love. It brought people together, healed sadness, and turned ordinary moments into memories. When I started Herban-Eats, I believed I was feeding people well. I cooked with ingredients labeled “organic,” “fresh,” and “natural,” trusting, like many of us, that those words meant healthy. I had no idea how misled I’d been.

Everything changed when my husband, Anthony, experienced a health scare that stopped me in my tracks. In that moment, I realized I couldn’t keep cooking the same way and call it love. I started asking hard questions. What was really in our food? Why were so many of us getting sick even when we thought we were doing the right things?

The deeper I researched, the clearer it became: much of what we’ve been taught about nutrition is incomplete or simply untrue. I learned that what we eat can prevent, arrest, and even reverse up to ninety percent of the lifestyle-driven illnesses that devastate our families and communities. The power to heal had been sitting in our kitchens all along.

From my family and kitchen to my business and ultimately my purpose, that realization changed everything. I transitioned Herban-Eats from catering to education, and The Vegucator™ was born.

Today, every talk, demo, presentation, and program I create is rooted in that same love that once inspired me to cook, but now it’s grounded in evidence, equity, and cultural truth. I don’t just teach; I vegucate—because education is the pathway to liberation.
When we eat in harmony with plants and live in alignment with a whole food, plant-based lifestyle, we restore balance to our bodies, our communities, and our planet. This work is about reclaiming our health, dismantling wellness inequities, and creating space for healing that looks like us, tastes like us, and serves us all.
