After being sick and tired of being sick and tired, Dawn began her grassroots journey to debunk and demystify the unnecessarily complicated world of healthy lifestyles and relationships with food. Armed with a passion for community, food, a catering license and a B.A. in Political Science, she pushed forward.
From continuing education and certification via Cornell University's nutrition science school to daily research, recipes and community engagement, Dawn works to learn as much as possible about the alarming health statistics that effect everyone.
Dawn also targets health in communities that are disproportionately impacted due to underemployment, education, unemployment, socioeconomic disadvantage and/or proximity to food desert rural and/or urban geographies. Challenged with the burdens of food insecurity, limited access to grocers carrying quality whole foods, an affinity and habit of procuring highly processed, quick-fix snacks and foods, fad diets, poor food choices, miseducation and dangerous target marketing, the aforementioned groups seen an unprecedented increase in chronic disease and obesity within all ages and genders.
With over 30 years experience in the food industry, a successful health-forward catering and coaching company and numerous certifications and study in the food and wellness disciplines, Dawn is available to speak to you and your group about whole soul food and how to make easy changes that change lives for the better.
